During a recent family trip to Coorg in late 2021, we stayed over at this cozy small but spacious homestay at Virajpet in Coorg called Red Hills Homestay. It is managed by a couple who stay on the ground floor of the property and there is one spacious suite kind of accommodation ( where 6 folks can stay at comfort ) in the main building and they have another smaller room which can take in about 4 folks. You are offered a package with or without Breakfast and Dinner. If lunch is needed you need to inform them well in advance so that they can plan accordingly. Most folks visiting here would be out doing sightseeing at noon so it’s not a bummer there. The place is very close to but much before the Virajpet town when you are going from Kushalnagar to Virajpet via Dubare Elephant Camp. There is ample and safe parking place on the property. The facilities are basic but very good. The hosts are very accommodating of any small changes in plans or menu. For people who love gardening and flowers or botany in specific, this will be a paradise as you can spend hours admiring the variety of the plants they have. They do have their own pond where you can opt for fishing or chill in the evening alongside a bonfire. The food is very tasty and most importantly it’s homecooked and very local.
